The CIBC Aero Platinum® Visa* Card for Students offers a superior experience to students who want to travel worldwide and need additional security and insurance services. This card costs $39 a year and has a standard interest rate: 19.99% for purchases and 22.99% for cash.


Once you sign up for one, you get 5,000 Aeroplan miles as a bonus. You then earn 1 mile for every 1.5$ spent, plus double mile points if you travel with Air Canada or purchase from Aeroplan partners. The reward points can be used for anything from auto rentals & flights to gift cards, taxes and additional services.


At no cost, you get 4 unique types of insurance: auto rental collision & loss, common carrier accident, extended protection and purchase security. Optionally, you can get the CIBC payment protector for credit cards.


With this card, you can also double the manufacturer's warranty for loss or theft, plus also extend your protection for most purchases. You can also use it to earn the Aeroplan status to get bonus miles and additional privileges.
